Buyers take just 24 hours to agree to home purchase

It really was a case of love at first sight for Mr Ahad Khalid and his wife when they found their dream home. Although they had been looking for a number of months, it took them less than 24 hours to decide to buy and then just 23 calendar days to complete the purchase.

The couple bought a three-bedroom Garden Villa design at New Stratford Works in London, E15 , a development by Higgins Homes that benefits from the regeneration legacy of the London Olympics.

“We had already seen a lot of properties so had a strong idea about what we wanted,” explains Ahad. “As first-time buyers, new build was much more appealing because there were a lot of good deals around and the security that comes with purchasing new. We had actually put in an offer on another development but although it was accepted, we were then told that someone from another office had also put in an offer so ours was void. The sales team then showed us much more expensive properties or ones that we didn’t like so by this point we had lost trust in them.”

The couple had been renting in Stratford for three years and were very keen to get on the ladder. “We were renting just a 20-minute walk away from where we ended up buying and had decided to purchase something that was close to the city that could provide us with a good long-term investment,” says Ahad. “We have seen so many positive changes in Stratford happening before our eyes and we know there is more on the horizon so were very keen to put down roots here for the foreseeable future.”

It was a phone call from the Higgins Homes’ sales team that led Ahad and his wife to look at the show home. They couldn’t believe they had not come across this development earlier that offered them everything that they were looking for. “The property ticked most of the boxes that we thought of; three bedrooms, a great location near transport links and rectangular shaped rooms to maximise useable space,” explains Ahad. “We had seen a lot of properties but this was the only one that offered separation between the kitchen, living and dining areas, which we really liked.”

After their disappointment with the previous property they tried to buy, being comfortable with the sales team was really important. “From the moment we entered the show home, the sales team took the time to find out what we wanted and then gave us so much information, without being overly-pushy or rushing us along,’ adds Ahad. “In fact, during the whole process, the Higgins Homes team were informative, gave timely responses, were flexible and were genuinely concerned with making the transaction happen in as simple a way as possible for us. Buying property is a complicated process but it was the people in the Higgins Homes team that made it seem relatively stress-free.”

The couple have recently moved into their property and are just starting to think about how they will use the home, with one of the bedrooms already earmarked for an office.

“On a personal level, the mental satisfaction that we now own something and we are not throwing money down the drain on rent, is really satisfying,” adds Ahad. “Buying a property is probably the biggest financial commitment you can make in your life but it is exciting that this stability will enable us to make more long-term plans.”
