A Neighbourhood Guide to Some of The Best Eateries in Peckham

Posted 20/04/2026/5 minute read

There’s undoubtedly a diverse range of eateries in and around Peckham. From Southeast Asia to European to Mexican to Traditional British you’ll find it in SE15!

There’s plenty to take your fancy and here’s just a selection of restaurants:

Mr Bao - 293 Rye Lane, London SE15 4UA

Undoubtedly one of the most popular restaurants in Peckham. For over 10 years, Mr Bao has been serving some of the lightest and fluffiest Taiwanese bao buns in London with ingredients sourced direct from small suppliers around SE London and Asia. Brunch at the weekends is the perfect chance to experience the bao, street food dishes and weekly specials.

The room is simple and comfortable. Wooden tables and chairs, plus some bar seating in front of the kitchen. It’s small enough for there to be a buzz, but big enough for it not to feel cramped.  This is a place worth travelling to wherever you live in the city.

Lai Rai - 181 Rye Lane, London SE15 4TP

Lai Rai was founded in 2025, inspired by a culture of meeting friends for fuss-free snacks and cold beer.  It doesn’t disappoint and is attracting a cool crowd in search of classic Vietnamese dishes and a vibrant atmosphere. So much that it’s featured in the definitive list of cool and trendy restaurants in London.

The space is small but eye catching – from the outside standing out on the busy Rye Lane, inside its decor draws on the vibrancy of Vietnam's cafe culture.

The menu transforms from day to night: comprising a short menu of Banh Mi sandwiches and traditional strong coffee during the day; whilst at night it is small plates, creative desserts, inventive cocktails and boozy takes on Vietnamese coffee.

Artusi - 161 Bellenden Road, Peckham, SE15 4DH

Artusi is an Italian-inspired, locally loved spot, serving seriously good pasta (made fresh daily) and classic Italian food, a menu built around delicious ingredients and simple cooking.  The menu written across the chalkboard wall, changes throughout the week to reflect the best seasonal produce available.

The 3-course set menu on Sunday lunchtime for £29 offers amazing value, whilst for parties of 8 or more people, there’s a chefs table with sharing menu based on a selection of dishes from that day’s menu – the perfect choice for friend or family gatherings and celebrations.

Guacamoles - Rye Lane Indoor Market, 48 Rye Lane, London SE15 5BY

This food stall is the one of the best taco spots in London - tucked away in Rye Lane Indoor Market.

Founder, Chef Manny, has created a perfectly sized menu offering authentic mexican food featuring recipes from the family cookbook, saying “If it don’t taste like home, we don’t serve our customers.”  And for those with a sweet tooth, the must-try’ is Abuela Victoria’ Cake, concocted by Manny’s grandmother. Amber Port.

Hanar - Arch 163 Peckham Rye, London SE15 4ST

Down a side street directly opposite the exit from Peckham Rye station, it might be easy to miss this hidden gem offering middle eastern food and drink. The vibe at Hanar is informal and pleasantly chaotic. The tables spill out onto the cobblestone courtyard outside, where heaters make alfresco dining in winter possible and incredibly cosy. Large platters of meats, stuffed home-baked naan, dips and grain salads are the thing to order and make sure not to miss out on the pistachio dip.

The Begging Bowl - 168 Bellenden Road, London SE15 4BW

This is Thai food but probably not as you know it. Very different from the classic Thai takeaway, this Thai street food concept restaurant is a light-filled, greenery-heavy, buzzy restaurant that explores the whole cuisines Thailand has to offer.

One of the first restaurants to open on the now deeply-foodie Bellenden Road, The Begging Bowl is now something of a Peckham institution and is well worth a visit if you are craving flavoursome food that packs a punch.

M.Manze – The Noted Eel & Pie Houses - 105 Peckham High Street, London SE15 5RS

Sample Traditional Pie & Mash and eels (jellied or stewed) in authentic surroundings with the same recipes used today as when founded in 1902. Just a 5-minute stroll from Peckham Rye Station is this bustling noisy shop full of London life which takes you back in time. Offering both meat and vegan pies, mash and green liquor, all made fresh on the day.  Open lunchtimes (excluding Sunday) or alternatively you can experience this legendary cuisine which is available for hot delivery locally.

Bake with Monia - 40 Peckham Rye, London SE15 4JR

An Italian café and deli on Peckham Rye, SE15, serving breakfast, brunch and lunch with espresso quality coffee, freshly made sandwiches, and homemade cakes. The passion for Italian cuisine comes to life through a wide range of freshly prepared delicacies from flaky croissants and muffins to olive-oil focaccia baked in-house, hearty panini and sandwiches to homemade customised cakes crafted with love.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite on your way to work or enjoying a leisurely catch-up with friends, the cosy atmosphere and delicious offerings create the perfect ambiance to experience a slice of Italy.
