Islington is one of London’s liveliest areas, a thriving hub of communities, bars, restaurants and shops catering to just about every taste and interest. It’s fantastically well connected to the rest of the city too, a short hop from the centre and with easy access to the Overground, Underground and an extensive network of buses. Living here not only makes London life easy but exciting and varied too.
Islington extends from Islington High Street to Highbury Fields, as well as Essex Road and Southgate Road to the east. The area may well have Roman heritage and has been involved in the development of London through the years, starting out as a village and ending up as one of the most cosmopolitan parts of the city. The diversity of life is one of the attributes that most attracts people to the area – from families to City professionals, those who are new to London to those who are looking to start putting down roots, Islington has a huge amount to offer.
Upper Street is the centre of the action in Islington and here you will find a very wide variety of entertainment, eating and drinking. In fact, you might just be able to taste every type of cuisine on this street, from Turkish to Mexican and some fine patisserie too – many of the restaurants here are highly rated in various food guides and there’s a good mix of one off establishments and well known chains. The shopping follows a similar pattern – boutiques sit alongside recognisable high street logos – and the Angel Shopping Centre is a hub of purchasing action, as well as being home to an entertainment complex. In fact, entertainment is plentiful wherever you are here – there are theatres and cinemas, live music and club nights plus a broad array of bars and pubs some of the best cocktails in the city.
Islington is one of those places that constantly evolves, which is why it remains enduringly popular. However, if you want to explore outside the area you’re just a short ride away from hipster Dalston, the shopping of Oxford Street and there are direct connections to the other end of the city, such as the Southbank. Nord One is a development that is perfectly placed to enjoy Islington – and beyond. A unique urban terrace of contemporary houses it has been created for those looking for modern, urban living with all the action close by.
