The latest Quality of Life survey has revealed that 63% of the top 30 local authorities in Britain are within the South East of England.* Kent and its surrounding towns are coming out at the top. This is great news for Shirley Bolton, a recently widowed housewife from Kent, who has just purchased a two bedroom apartment at The Old Hospital, Higgins Homes striking development in the heart of Maidstone.
Shirley, 60, sold her three bedroom home in Maidstone and has downscaled to something much easier to look after, which suits her new lifestyle. Shirley comments: “Following the death of my husband I decided to stay in Maidstone as I’ve lived here all my life. I’ve known about the hospital conversion since Higgins Homes bought it and I have always admired how the old building has been restored and converted. My apartment is located in a beautifully converted wing of the hospital which was formerly where the nurses lived.
“As my eyesight is now very poor, I find it hard to get around so being located in the centre of town is ideal and transportation is never a problem due to the frequent buses and trains. Higgins Homes were amazing to deal with, and went above and beyond what would be considered normal when purchasing a home. They ensured that I was informed every step of the way and provided a great deal of assistance when problems with the sale of my previous property arose. I simply can’t thank them enough!”
Jeremy Marcus, Sales and Marketing Director, Higgins Homes, comments: “The Old Hospital is an inspiring development which we have attempted to sympathetically restore and transform in keeping with it’s heritage.
“As a company, we pride ourselves on being in a position to assist homebuyers in making an informed and satisfied decision and I am pleased Mrs Bolton was so pleased with the buying process.”
The Old Hospital, the former Ophthalmic and Aural Hospital, is a stunning collection of Grade II listed buildings, which have been carefully restored and converted into 17 one and two bedroom luxury apartments by award winning house builder, Higgins Homes. Fifty seven newly built apartments are also to be available on this ideally located site off Church Street in the heart of Maidstone. The town centre offers a range of restaurants, bars and cafés, as well as a variety of high street and independent shops. Conveniently situated for commuters, Maidstone East Station is less than 500 metres away from the development and has regular direct trains to London Victoria, which take under an hour**.
Prices currently range from £134,950 for a one-bedroom apartment, £179,950 for two bedrooms and £325,000 for a three-bedroom, ground floor apartment with private terrace. The sales and marketing suite and show apartment is open daily from 10am to 5pm and is contactable on telephone: 01622 661 511.
