Property Investors Take Advantage of Strong Rental Market

Story posted: 21/09/2009

A strong rental market in Stevenage is heralding the return of property investors, as the housing market begins to recover. Higgins Homes’ iconic development, Ice, has seen a rise in the number of property investors, such as multiple buyer David Jordan, who are  taking advantage of the strong rental market and lower property prices.

David, a 59 year old food company shareholder, (Jordans & Ryvita) from Bedfordshire, purchased 3 two bedroom apartments at the centrally located development, and each apartment has already been let. David comments: “Despite the recent setbacks with property values, I see the property market in a very positive light. The rental market in Stevenage is very strong, which is evidenced by the fact that all three apartments are already let. It is, of course, important to choose the right development and I would never buy anything that I wouldn’t live in myself. Ice is an ideal investment because it is in a very central location, has fantastic transport links and the apartments are modern and easy to maintain.

“Higgins Homes has a very good reputation in this area and once I had seen the high quality finishes in the apartments, particularly the kitchens and bathrooms, I knew this was the place for me to invest in. I see these apartments as both long and short term investments, so much so, that my son has also purchased one in the same building!”

ICE comprises 238 contemporary one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses. The sweeping architectural design dominates the urban landscape and incorporates glazing, staggered roofing and sleek curved finishes. Internally each apartment has a designer Urban Myth kitchen, fitted with Smeg appliances, including an electric oven, a ceramic hob, an integrated fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. Most apartments also have a balcony or patio, and every apartment comes with a parking space in the underground car park.

ICE is located near the centre of Stevenage Old Town, which has a range of boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. Stevenage railway station is under half a mile away from the development and from there, trains to St Pancras take just 30 minutes*.

Prices at ICE start from £169,950 for a two bedroom apartment with balcony and underground parking space.   The sales and marketing suite and two show apartments are open daily between 10am and 5pm. For further information please contact the marketing suite on telephone: 01438 362 712.
