Family Houses:Most Popular but in Shortest Supply

Story posted: 7/09/2009

A recent survey has shown that semi-detached and terraced homes are in the shortest supply, despite reports that these properties are in the highest demand.* But family house developments such as The Orchard, in Ifield Green, West Sussex, are helping to ease this growing shortage.

Nathan and Lynsey Harding, from West Sussex, wanted to up-size from their one bedroom flat to start a family, but it was extremely difficult finding anywhere with enough space in their price range. When they saw Higgins Homes’ rural, family development, they fell in love with a stunning three bedroom house, and haven’t looked back.

Nathan, a 26 year old personal banking manager, comments: “Lynsey and I had wanted to move to a larger property for a while because we wanted to try for family, but we were very surprised at how difficult it was to find somewhere which matched our requirements, and which was in our price range. When we saw The Orchard we knew all of the months of searching had come to an end, it was the perfect place for us. “The Orchard is a wonderful development because has been designed to be a lovely place to bring up children. The houses are spacious with lovely gardens and mature trees and green fields surrounding the development make you feel like you are in the country. We are absolutely thrilled with our new home and now all that’s left is to fill it!”

The Orchard comprises 176 three and four bedroom family houses situated in the rural area of Ifield Green, less than two miles from Crawley town centre. The homes all have an open-plan layout and extensive glazing making them feel spacious and bright. Each property has a driveway or parking space and there is also a peaceful conservation area within the development. Internally, each property is fitted with a designer Urban Myth kitchen and Smeg appliances, which include a stainless steel oven, gas hob, integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer.

Crawley is has a plethora or amenities ranging from a high profile department store, new restaurants, cafes, shops, bars and a recently improved transport system. Crawley train station has regular direct trains to London Victoria Station which take approximately 50 minutes**.  Currently only 2 three bedroom houses remain available - prices start from £259,950.

The sales and marketing suite and show home open daily, between 10am and 5pm. For further information, contact Higgins Homes on telephone: 01293 552 083 or visit the website: www.higginshomes.co.uk *Smart New Homes 2009 – www.yourmortgage.co.uk**National Rail
